NOTE: Please be patient – this site is   currently under construction – it’s a complete remodel from the old site!

I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember. It began when I was young, around age 10 or 11, when I filled spiral notebooks with stories and fantasies inspired by books such as Summer Pony by Jean Slaughter Doty, Nancy Drew, and the Hardy Boys.

In 2003, my best friend from high school died of cancer. It suddenly hit me (I know, what a cliche), that tomorrow is a promise, not a certainty. I splurged and bought a computer and began to write in earnest. Thanks to the inspiration of National Novel Writing Month and a fantastic local writers’ group, I finally finished a novel, edited and polished it, and began submitting it to agents and publishers. Denim & Diamonds was published in 2014. Since then, I wrote a few more books in the Diamond J series, all set in Missouri. I also wrote two books in the Widow’s Web thriller series, Fatal Impulse and Fatal Obsession (book 3 is in the works!).

In addition to writing, I offer writing classes via WriteScout, including my signature course, Blank to 50K (inspired by the Couch to 5K program I took several years ago).

And because life isn’t busy enough between a full-time job (paralegal), writing books, and teaching writing, I also craft. My designs can be found on Etsy at DogDaysShopUS.
